Elephant Safari - Sri Lanka
In Sri Lanka, there are quite a number of places where elephant safari is organized. Udawalawe Games Park is an ideal location to observe elephants. This games park allows camping and safaris for visitors. For elephant safari, tourists can visit Wasgamuwa National Park, Galoya, Yala National Park and Dambulla. The Yala National Park is a haven to a huge number of animal and bird species. Visitors on a Yala Elephant back safari can spot different birds and animals throughout the day. The Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage looks after about 60 elephants. Here visitors can watch elephants graze, feed and bathe in the nearby river.
As one takes an elephant safari, he gets a chance to be familiar with the nature and behavior of this mammal. It is a fascinating scene to observe herds of elephants in the national parks and protected areas. In Sri Lanka, both Indian and African species of elephants are seen. This animal is considered to be a very important species among the wildlife of Sri Lanka.
